New Drug Being Reviewed by FDA May Prove Helpful to Mesothelioma Cancer Victims
by Rick Shapiro
According to a news report, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is set to review a new drug from German pharmaceutical giant Boehringer Ingelheim. According to the manufacturer, their new drug, afatinib, has proven effective against certain types of lung cancer, including asbestos-induced mesothelioma. The company claims that the compound “has demonstrated a significant delay in tumor growth versus the best-in-class chemotherapy.” The FDA is scheduled to make a decision on afatinib cancer medication in the third quarter of 2013.
